Our fishery is known as Westleaze Waters, Mill Lane, Swindon, SN1 4NU and is located on the Southern side of Swindon close to Junction 16 of the M4.

The 57 peg fishery was established in 1996, primarily for leisure anglers. It was created from the former line of the original Wilts and Berks canal which ran through the land on the farm. Our own family were all keen anglers so this farm diversification project was greeted with a lot of enthusiasm and excitment during the early development stages!

At the time of the first phase our thoughts were to develop a specialist 'carp only' fishery so we initially stocked heavily with small mirror carp, common carp and some ghost carp. The following year phase two was undertaken and this time we decided to stock with small silver fish only so as to give anglers the choice of the two sections. It was by angler's preference that the following, third, year we put the two sections into one mixed fishery which our anglers preferred and has appeared to work very well for both fish and anglers.

The fish stocks soon settled down and have spawned annually giving us a very heavily stocked fishery. From the initial stocking no new fish have been introduced and we now believe we have around the seventh year generation of home bred fish in the fishery. Growth rates have been fantastic and the health and condition of the stock is very good, all of which can be confirmed by our own fishery records.

Application forms to join our angling club for the 2008 season are now available. The club year runs from 1st January to the 31st December and the fishery is open 365 days per year. Senior member's fees are £38.00 and juniors (upto their 16th birthday) are £25. Day tickets cost £6.00 and are available from Swindon tackle shops.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU PURCHASE YOUR TICKET BEFORE FISHING AS THE FISHERY IS REGULARLY PATROLLED BY THE FISHERY'S OWN BAILIFFS AND HEAVY FINES ARE IN PLACE.
